Privacy
Your Mac's data stays on your Mac.
What the app stores
These live in your user Library on this Mac and are never uploaded:
- Settings, aliases, pins, quicklinks, and launcher ranking
- AI Chat conversations and prepared attachments
- Clipboard history — only if you turn it on
- Cleanup restore history and recovery backups for items you changed
- Update check state and any update that has been downloaded
Your OpenRouter API key is stored in the macOS Keychain. It is never written to settings files or logs.
Clipboard history
Off by default. When you turn it on, Command Center keeps a size-limited history of text you copy, on this Mac only. Content that apps mark as concealed or transient — such as passwords from password managers — is never recorded, and you can exclude specific apps. Anything already on the clipboard when you enable it is not imported.
When the network is used
These are the only features that make network requests:
Update check
The MacUtilityHub update server
Signed builds check about once a day, and you can turn this off in Settings. The request carries your IP address and the app version, with no system profile, and is the one network request that does not start from something you do.
AI Chat and Quick AI
OpenRouter
Opening AI Chat or its model settings loads the public model list. Sending a message transmits your prompt, any attachments, and your API key to OpenRouter, with the app's name and website as attribution headers. No message is sent without a key.
Cleanup › App updates
Apple App Store lookup, each app's own update feed, and Homebrew if you have it
Only when you check for updates. Requests include the identifiers of the apps being checked.
Cleanup › Malware scan
ClamAV definition mirrors
Only if you have installed ClamAV and choose to update its definitions.
Command Center web fallbacks
Your default browser
Choosing a web search result opens your browser. MacUtilityHub does not make the request itself.
Data sent to OpenRouter is handled under OpenRouter's own terms and those of the model provider you select. Everything else in MacUtilityHub works offline.
Reports you send
Copy Diagnostics only places text on your clipboard: the app and macOS versions, Mac type, language, and enabled modules. Nothing is sent unless you send it. If you email a report, your address and message are used only to answer you.
Removing your data
Settings lists everything the app stores, with sizes, and moves it to the Trash. The Help page lists the same locations if you prefer to do it by hand. For requests about your data, use the contact details on Help. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
What scans can see
Cleanup, Battery, System, Displays, and Thermals read local system information to show it to you. Scan results exist for your review on this Mac and are never uploaded. Cleanup's restore history records only what is needed to put moved items back.

Changes
If a future version adds a feature that uses the network, it will be listed here before it ships. Last updated November 2026.
