AI Chat

Native chat and Quick AI, with your own provider key.

A full chat window and a Quick AI mode inside Command Center. Ask from anywhere, then continue the conversation in the chat window when a quick answer isn't enough.

Interactive illustration with sample values.

What it does

  • Streaming answers with Markdown, code blocks, and tables
  • Model picker built from the live OpenRouter catalog, with context and pricing details
  • Separate controls for model, web search, and reasoning effort
  • Quick AI: press Tab in Command Center to ask, ⌘J to continue in the chat window
  • Optional selected-text capture and pasteback of the answer
  • PDF, image, and text attachments with previews — up to eight files per message
  • Conversation history stored locally

Permissions
An OpenRouter API key to send messages, stored in the macOS Keychain. Accessibility only if you enable selected-text capture or pasteback.

Deliberate limits

  • Requests go from your Mac straight to OpenRouter — there is no MacUtilityHub account or relay server.
  • Attachments are prepared locally; original file paths are not kept.
  • No agent tool runtime and no script execution.
